girlsdontcry's Diaryland Diary

Why?

Billy Joel or Prince should write one of their list songs about this past week, no? It feels so grim.

And so I am keeping it all in perspective but I'm really super sad that its the end of so many of our Routemaster buses in London. Yesterday I went on the number 9 (that's the bus that Cliff Richard takes to France in Summer Holiday to put it in historical context), and it was no longer a Routemaster (they're the buses you board from the back where a conductor collects your fare), but a brand-new bus with CCTV and those stupid windows that let rain in but no air.

It's so awful and functional, and I guess that Ken Livingstone does not take buses very often because he just doesn't understand how upsetting it is. Sitting on the top of a Routemaster is so pleasant and relaxing (usually), and in summer it's much airier and cooler than the new buses. Why must buses be practical! Practical people go on the tube.

At least the number 9 has been replaced by a double-decker. The number 73 is finishing tonight to be replaced by a bendy bus. A bendy bus! It's too awful. I hate change sometimes.
