girlsdontcry's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It would've been so much fun if they'd looked like kittens

Idiotic conversations this weekend about the new twins with my parents, who kept pointedly saying how disappointed they were not to be around to see them (as if it was some kind of a conspiracy) along these lines:

- What are the babies like?
- They're like ... babies.
- Well, what do they look like?
- Um, like ... babies?

Oh, yes, watch me revert into a sulky teenager within seconds of speaking to them!

It's sad that David Hookes has died in such pointless, seemingly random circumstances. I'm not a huge cricket fan or anything, but a very good friend loved him, she even read his autobiography (she's read Thomas Pynchon's "V" -- I wonder how many people fall in the subset of people who've read both "V" and "Hooksie") and, so, he seemed like a good person.

The big news of the day, that the Barclay brothers have bought the Daily Telegraph for 260m, and, well, I don't know if they've been overcharged, because I've seen it for sale for as little as 70p, so...

(boom boom!)
