girlsdontcry's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scale I always think it's fun to eat and drink miniature things, and pretend to be a giant. The most fun are Mr Kipling's mini Victoria sponge cakes, which are probably about two inches in diameter, as opposed to a standard sponge cake, which is� what, about 9"? It makes for convincing giant fantasies. Obviously, miniature bottles of liquor are also excellent, especially if you can get some kind of miniature glass thing going on. They have these cool half-pint Guinness glasses in some places, that are identical to the pint glasses, if you just want to pretend you are only twice your normal size. If you want to go the other way, there are these pint glasses in which they serve Hoegaarden, which are the same shape as the half-pint glasses, but for some reason they just appear to be ludicrously BIG, and hard to pick up with one hand. So you can pretend you're really small and that it's a half pint, which is also fun. .............. I went out to sing Karaoke with Lisa last night, in the fun Japanese place where you have your own room, and they have a list of songs that stretches beyond the collected works of Abba, the Carpenters, Elvis and the Beatles. I sort of wanted to annoy her, so I decided to sing Ironic, the Alanis Morissette song. A few years ago when she was visiting me, that song came on TV and she proclaimed to hate it. Not for the reasons that every right-minded person in the universe hates it, i.e. because while Alanis rather patronisingly tries to explain the concept of irony, she unwittingly proves she that doesn't understand it at all. No. Lisa hated it because it's so heterosexual, or some such ridiculous argument. I guess because it mentions wedding days? I don't know. Anyway. Apparently Lisa has gotten over this. Because she did harmonies in the chorus. And, yeah, I had fun. I HAD FUN.
